MAY EXHIBIT OPENING TONIGHT

Last night, we set up the new exhibit at studio Main for our opening tonight. Students from the University of Arkansas Community Design Center have put together a series of drawings and models for different home and business designs and even a light rail station. There is also a scale model of the neighborhood. Come check it out in person tonight!

In addition to the student work we are also presenting the runway designs from this year’s Wine and Design Fashion Show. Wine and Design is an event put on every year by the local American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) chapter to raise money for Our House, one of the local shelters. As part of the event, teams of interior designers are designated two materials, (a soft material like carpet samples or wall coverings and a hard material like ceramic tile or laminate samples) which they randomly select and have to design an ensemble for the fashion show. This year’s entries will be on display as well tonight!

But the main attraction for the night is the student work. The students have proposed a energizing plan for the neighborhood, by infilling the neighborhood’s “missing teeth” with new contemporary designs to create a dynamic environment mixing new and old into one neighborhood.
